Arab Six-Party Committee to resolve the Lebanese crisis

Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait 1963-1991 and Chairman of the Six-Party Arab Committee
His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah

We hope that the various Lebanese parties will respond to the efforts of the Six-Party Arab Committee to resolve the Lebanese crisis, headed by Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, to reach a comprehensive cease-fire so that this Arab country can restore its security and stability.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad's statements after his arrival in Damascus yesterday to start the third round of the committee's endeavors created an atmosphere of optimism and satisfaction among the Arab circles with the possibility of the committee achieving its goals, especially after the cessation of the bloody artillery shelling and the violent clashes that took place in the Lebanese capital between the conflicting parties during the past days.

Sheikh Sabah affirmed that the committee has a specific vision to get out of the Lebanese crisis and work towards a cease-fire, and it will complete its vision after it meets with members of the Lebanese National Front, and then moves on to hear the point of view of members of the Lebanese Front, which includes Christian militias.

The Six-Party Committee for resolving the Lebanese crisis has made great strides towards achieving its goals of bringing the Lebanese closer together and getting Lebanon out of its current crisis. It remains for the Lebanese now, after this bitter experience, to unify ranks and achieve national reconciliation, because it has become more urgent than ever after this crisis has entered dangerous turns.

It must be developed that the outbreak of fighting again is not in the interest of the Lebanese people, especially since there are terrible plans hatched by the enemies of the Arab nation. It is in their interest that Lebanon remain divided into sectarian states that increase the state of tension in the region and divert attention from the great Arab cause, which is the Palestinian cause.
