Renewed Fighting in Lebanon Threatens Six-Party Arab Committee Efforts to Resolve the Crisis

Hope in the Arab solution to the crisis
The fate of the Lebanese people is in the hands of its leaders

It is regrettable that violent fighting has resumed in Lebanon at a time when the Arab Six-Party Committee concerned with the Lebanese crisis began the last stage of its work by meeting with members of the Lebanese National Front in Kuwait yesterday, in preparation for putting together its final vision regarding its contacts and consultations, to submit it to the Arab League Council at the earliest possible opportunity to take the appropriate decisions. about it.

The outbreak of fighting in this violent manner, at the same time as the meeting of the committee, is intended to hit the efforts exerted by it to extricate Lebanon from its ordeal and dangerous impasse, and to avoid the occurrence of more victims.

The stage that Lebanon is witnessing is considered the most dangerous stage in its history, after the situation reached a dangerous degree that it had not witnessed before, in the absence of a president who leads to reforms, saves the country from sectarianism, and embodies its national unity.

What is required of all Lebanese leaders, and in the face of these developments aimed at dividing the country, is to support the efforts of the committee, to show more flexibility and to make some concessions in their rigid positions on the crisis, as any failure and subsequent frustration would lead Lebanon to dire consequences whose results cannot be predicted.

In general, despite this recent setback in the situation, hopes are still pinned on the committee headed by Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, which has proven its ability to assume the responsibility assigned to it by the Arab countries. There is no doubt that the committee was able to meet with this number of Lebanese leaders since The start of its work two months ago, whether in Tunisia, Damascus or Kuwait, indicates the correctness of the line it took in its work to bring together the viewpoints of all parties to achieve national reconciliation, lay the foundations for peace and stability, and bring Lebanon to safety.
