A call for an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council to resolve the Lebanese crisis

The call made by the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Six-Party Committee to resolve the Lebanese crisis, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, to hold an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council, is of great importance in these difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through in light of the continuing fierce fighting between its various parties, which almost destroys the remaining hopes. The committee to end the crisis by peaceful means.

Failure to take advantage of the opportunity currently available and the positive response of all the Lebanese to the emergency meeting of foreign ministers will miss the historic opportunity for the Lebanese to end their crisis that has been going on for more than fourteen years due to the conspiracies and intrigues woven by the enemies of Lebanon and the enemies of the Arab nation with the aim of weakening it and preventing a solution to the crisis.

The only loser from the failure of the Six-Party Committee's mission is the Lebanese people, who have suffered throughout this period a lot of calamities and tragedies. Therefore, all Lebanese are required to facilitate the committee's mission and stop the fighting so that it can present its final vision to the meeting of foreign ministers to take appropriate and decisive decisions to get out of this ordeal.

What is required of Arab governments now is to take urgent means and measures to stop the massacres between the Lebanese brothers and to stand with the Lebanese people in their ordeal to protect them and save them from the critical predicament they are going through.

Our great hope is that the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers will result in restoring stability to Lebanon and enabling its people to exercise their constitutional rights to choose the leadership they like to rule Lebanon. The unknown future that surrounds Lebanon places before the Arabs a great national and historical responsibility to help their brothers in their misfortune.
