The PLO's Rejection of the Shamir Plan: Interpretation and Implications

The Palestinians' rejection of Shamir's plan
Yitzhak Shamir 7th Prime Minister of Israel

Despite the categorical Palestinian denial, at home and abroad, of the infamous Shamir plan, in which he calls for holding elections in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, without Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories. and despite the rejection of the organization, the unified leadership of the Palestinian uprising, the prominent Palestinian personalities and the Palestinian people For this plan: However, the US administration, the sources of its Foreign Ministry, and the Western media still insist on denying and distorting the facts, as these sources promote that the PLO has promised to study the idea of elections put forward by Shamir.

What is worse is to say that the organization agreed to hold elections in the occupied territories, before the Israeli withdrawal, "Such!"

The Palestine Liberation Organization is not against elections in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Rather, it is willing to hold these elections, but only in the way it wants, that is, after complete withdrawal from the occupied territories, and international supervision of the elections, and only with these two conditions does the organization agree to hold the elections. Not in the manner dictated by the American administration and the conspiratorial plans that Israel is developing.

The artificial promotion of the US State Department and the Western media aims to split the Palestinian ranks and create intellectual confusion among the Palestinian Arab people. The US administration is well aware of the organization's position on this plan, as it was informed of the Palestinian rejection of the plan aimed at maintaining the occupation.

Washington is also aware of the repeated assertions of rejecting its attempt to convince the organization that the Shamir plan reflects a development in the Israeli position.

The Palestinian leadership cannot consider studying or approving this plan, because it does not bring anything new, and thus aims to liquidate the Palestinian uprising, divide the ranks of the Palestinians, and ignores the international recognition of the unity of the PLO's representation of the Palestinian people.
