Perhaps this is the first question we asked ourselves before anyone asked us. Our answer was why not?
Yes, why isn't "AlAyam" a new voice in this kind and generous land? Why not be a light for civilization in a land that has known civilization since its existence? Why not be a voice for the citizen and a platform for him to say from above what occupies his conscience and what fills his day and night of dreams embodying his freedom of speech and his responsibility in action.
And because it is the nature of AlAyam, which informs us of the essence of the era that welcomes all that is new, so how will it become when this new is a newspaper that provides us with all the news it contains. It is the nature of AlAyam whose heralds are looming on the horizon, which means within what is meant by the multiplicity of voices, and not as much as it means within the multiplicity of pages, as it means within what means the expansion of the space for freedom of opinion, and the other opinion, in a homeland whose leadership’s interests expanded and responded to the rhythm of the times.
And because it is a new experience in the world of Arab journalism, not because it is a new publication that appears to take its place in life, but rather because it is a new experience in which the ability and management are given to a good group of the youth of this benevolent country to establish and issue a new self-run newspaper with the support of their country, the government and our people. Therefore, they have a lot of professional giving, which will contribute to creating honest press competition in order to provide the best service to the country and the citizen.
AlAyam is issued as a witness to responsibility, because freedom is a responsibility just like citizenship. And because whoever seeks rights must know duties, the free word is not the one that a person utters out of the blue, but rather it is the sincerity in understanding the meaning of commitment to human existence and the true responsibility towards the country and society.
Therefore, this meeting with the reader on the pages of "AlAyam" was a meeting that is renewed every day for the sake of Bahrain and the loyal sons of Bahrain who know life, its history and its present on its soil, the meaning of their existence and the patriotic duty that they carry on their shoulders.
AlAyam is not a picture of Bahrain, nor is it a mirror of Western society. It's a beacon. This is how we wanted it and this is how it should be. If it does not do so, it will lose its right to the being that we dream of, and because we will have lost ourselves and the defeat that follows.
We want “AlAyam” to be a home for those who know that they have to receive the word with the weight of trust, and how heavy the trust is for the believers, and how precious its letters are for the truthful.
"AlAyam" issues in Bahrain realizing that it has a duty and loyalty on the ground, and towards the Arab Gulf a role that deserves to be played. This Arab voice in Bahrain is not isolated from Gulf concerns, and how great they are, nor is it far or plodding from its Arab issues, and there are many of them.
Hence, AlAyam finds its way to the light, aware of the difficulties that will be faced, and the great responsibility that it bears, believing that it was born in the space of faith, freedom and Arabism, and that with this great heritage it will remain.
