The final statement issued in Riyadh yesterday by the meetings of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf acquires special importance, especially with regard to what the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the current session of the Council, Sheikh Muhammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, announced that an envoy of the Iranian President, Ayatollah Jannati, would perform during the three days The upcoming visit to the State of Bahrain within the framework of the ongoing contacts between the GCC states and the various parties to the Iraqi-Iranian conflict in order to restore security and stability to the region.

What was stated in the statement, which re-supported the GCC states for the efforts exerted to implement Security Council Resolution No. 598 on stopping the war between Iraq and Iran, confirms that the GCC states still assume their full responsibility for this conflict and the need to support the efforts made to establish a lasting and comprehensive peace that provides the appropriate opportunity for new directions. Serve the goals and interests of development in the region.

There is no doubt that the upcoming contacts that the GCC countries will make with the parties to the Iraqi-Iranian conflict will constitute a new impetus to move the international efforts that have stagnated as a result of the divergence of views between the two parties.

We can say once again through what was mentioned in the statement that the GCC countries will remain pioneers, as they have been since the beginning of the conflict, in taking the reins of exchange and directing sincere efforts towards firm stability that supports an atmosphere of peace in the region.
