Internationalizing the Lebanese Crisis: The Efforts of the Arab Committee and the Militia's Response

Internationalization of the Lebanese crisis
French President Francois Mitterrand in front of the world press

The call made by France to internationalize the Lebanese crisis, which received a great response from some militias in East Beirut at a time when the issue is witnessing great interest from the Arab countries represented by the six-party Arab committee headed by Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad. aims in fact to Obstructing and thwarting the efforts of this committee, which has made great strides in its work so far, in order to solve this crisis.

What is required of the committee now, and in light of these negative developments in the Lebanese crisis, is to expedite its contacts with the Lebanese parties to put an end to these initiatives, which in fact aim at dividing Lebanon. The solution should be by agreement of bringing together the Lebanese themselves, because they are the owners of the issue and I know their circumstances and problems and the reasons for the outbreak of their crisis, especially since they accepted the efforts of the Arab Committee and its good offices to bring them together and thus find a peaceful solution to the crisis.

There is no doubt that the Lebanese Front's announcement of its participation in the meeting that will be held with the Ministerial Committee in Kuwait tomorrow will lead to positive results, if the intentions are concluded in terms of easing the tension arising from the current security escalation.

We hope that the committee will achieve progress during this tour in its work and succeed in bringing the views of the Lebanese leaders closer together, in order to block the way for the initiatives rejected by the majority of the Lebanese who want an Arab solution to their problem that has lasted for more than 14 years.
